David and Jelena are returning to Croatia finally! We have been patiently waiting to welcome them back for the 5th consecutive time here in Croatia where they created a devoted community of students over the years of their annual visits. Our plans, as those of most of humanity got derailed over the last two years, but here we are finally: It is with great pleasure, honor, anticipation and joy that we are hosting the beloved, globally known Ashtanga Yoga teachers teachers David & Jelena, for this very special one week event.
Expect a week of profound insight, expansive strength, and deep belly laugher. This intensive is open for all yoga practitioners. If you are a teacher wanting to dive deeper into the tradition and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga, or a practitioner interested in advancing your practice you should definetely join David Robson, a KPJAYI Level 2 Authorized Teacher, and Jelena Vesić for this very rich one week study in Zagreb, Croatia! To get most out of the intesnive we advise that you have the experience of a steady practice of Ashtanga Yoga of several months. PROGRAM For this intensive, David and Jelena weave together their combined wisdom and teachings of Ashtanga Yoga, mindfulness, Yogic philosophy, breath, technique and physical alignment and adjustments. The program includes 5 traditional morning guided Mysore-style self-practice, one Sanskrit-counted Led class, two afternoon technical workshops and a full weekend together diving deep into the details of the practice. This is a unique opportunity to cultivate an understanding of Ashtanga Yoga as a pathway to greater awareness of the body-mind-spirit union. You will without a doubt learn invaluable tips to deepen your own practice. The program is suitable for Ashtanga Yoga practitioners of all levels, as well as teachers who want to take their practice to deeper physical, mental and spiritual levels. SCHEDULE DETAILS* MONDAY 10 OCT -FRIDAY, 14 OCT: Daily morning Mysore, (6am-11am) TUESDAY, 11 OCT: "Alignment & Adjustments" (4-6pm) Take a more detailed look at the alignment, adjustments, and basic anatomy of key poses in the Primary Series. As a student or a teacher, you will develop a better understanding of what to observe in your own or others’ body during practice and energetically experience the state of the asana. THURSDAY 13 OCT: "Primary Series Safety Stops" (4-6pm) When learning the Ashtanga sequence, there are certain postures that must be completed before progressing on to the next pose. These poses are often referred to as “Gatekeepers”, but we like to call them Safety Stops, and they are an important part of the traditional sequencing and development in one’s asana practice. This workshop will take a detailed look at some of Safety Stops in the Primary Series, and offer guidance and tips on how to intelligently work towards the full expression of these asanas. FRIDAY, 14 OCT -SUNDAY, 16 OCT: Weekend Workshop FRIDAY: "Philosophy and Practice of Vinyasa" (4-6pm) David and Jelena will provide an overview of the goal of Ashtanga and provide in-depth teaching on the vinyasa technique in practice SATURDAY, 15 OCTOBER Led Primary: Using the traditional Sanskrit count and focusing on the rhythm of the breath, David and Jelena will lead us through the entire Primary Series, with lots of helpful cues along the way. (9-11am) Lift Offs and Landings -This session offers detailed techniques, alignment and energetic principles that take us towards graceful, weightless transitions between postures in the practice. (3.30-5.30pm) SUNDAY 16 OCTOBER Pranayama & Meditation –David will begin the session by leading you through some gentle pranayama, seated breathing exercises. Jelena will then guide you through a seated Mindfulness Meditation practice. (9-10am) Intro to Intermediate – Ashtanga’s Second Series of postures is designed to cleanse and charge our nervous system. This workshop will provide an accessible introduction to some of the deeper backbends, hip-openers and arm-balances that make the Intermediate Series such a transformative practice. All practitioners are invited to attend. (10.15-12-15pm) Q&A - Do you want to learn more about what it takes to become an Ashtanga Yoga teacher, the whole Mysore experience, yogi diet and other habits, and when that headstand will happen? Individual workshop sessions, one week Mysore, and drop-ins, will be only sold according to availability at a later date. Is my accommodation included? You are responsible for finding your own accommodation. There are plenty of affordable Airbnbs in Zagreb as well as hostels and hotels in the area. Ask us if you need help! I just started practicing Ashtanga Yoga- can I come? It is recommended you have at least 6 months of previous Ashtanga Yoga experience. What should I bring along? We recommend to bring your own Yoga mat, if you dont have one- please let us know. We also suggest to bring a bottle of water, practice towel and a notebook What's the Refund policy? LocationThe intensive will be held in the city of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Daily mysore groups (of 30 people max) will take place at the beauitful Dharmaway Yoga Centar, Ulica Grada Mainza 24, Zagreb. The full group workshops will take place at the halls of Dom Sportova, Trg Krešimira Ćosića 11, Zagreb. These two locations are within 10mins walking distance from each other. You will be informed promptly in the unlikely change in schedule or location within town. Zagreb is well positioned in Central Europe with easy access by car, and affordable prices for bus, trains or airplane transports.
